Regulations could be on the way for popular ride sharing services like UberX and Lyft.
The City of Seattle is taking a closer look at this industry and how it operates.
A special committee will examine several options from licensing the drivers to shutting down the services all together.
For months, taxi cab drivers have called for some regulations to level the playing field because they feel they are at a disadvantage.
The committee is also looking at the safety of these ride sharing services.
"I want those services to be out there. I want people to have choice. I also want the services to be safe when you and I hop in those vehicles," said Seattle City Councilmember Sally Clark.
The committee will meet Thursday afternoon to discuss all the options on the table. Again this is still in the initial stages and it could be months before we see a solid plan.
