PORTLAND -- Strong showers and thunderstorms were hammering the mid and southern Willamette Valley with frequent lightning and heavy rain moving through the Portland Metro area.
"In the Portland area we can expect heavy rain, with some embedded thunderstorms, from about 6 p.m. on. The occasionally heavy rain may cause some local ponding of water on roads," Zaffino said. "Showers will decrease later Thursday night and gradually end on Friday."
Portland will still see heavy rain through early Friday morning, with showers likely until noon. But Once the rain passes through we should see a warm and sunny week.
"From there, it's kind of amazing how quickly it happens," added KGW Meteorologist Nick Allard. "The showers will end and we'll clear out and warm up for a while."
