PORTLAND -- Portland officials are asking the public for help finding the source of a flyer that targets people who receive disability benefits.
"People with disabilities are now the target of a hate group in the Portland area," a posting on the Portland Office of Equity and Human Rights website reads. "Neighborhoods are being littered with this handbill attacking people with disabilities who receive public assistance."
The author of the flyer threatens to post the names of people receiving disability benefits, so neighbors can decide whether those people deserve the benefits.
"Some of us in the neighborhood wish to save this democracy and to stand in the way of those who would destroy it," the flyer reads.
The Portland Commission on Disability has asked that anybody who sees the flyer report it immediately, to help find the person or group responsible.
