ROYAL CITY, Wash.--A 23-year-old Othello man was arrested in connection with a hit and run. Saul Angeles Pamas voluntarily came to the Grant county Sheriff's Office in Ephrata. He was interviewed by investigators and was arrested on suspicion of second degree assault and hit and run with injury to a person.
A Royal City woman was injured Sunday night after she claimed she was intentionally struck twice by a car.
Emergency responders were called to the accident near the 900 block of County Road 10 Southeast, about 10 miles east of Royal City just after 6:00 on Sunday afternoon.
Officials said the Jackie Monney, 33, was running along Road 10 SE near State Route 262 when a sedan approached and stopped. Monney said the driver asked her if she wanted a ride.
She described the driver was a Hispanic male that she did not recognize. Monney declined and told the driver she was exercising.
The vehicle then drove away, turned around, drove past the victim, and turned around again according to authorities. The car then drove off the road and allegedly hit Monney from behind. Officials said the car turned around and struck Monney again, dragging her a short distance before speeding away. Monney said she was able to get the attention of a nearby property owner who called 9-1-1. Monney was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A Washington State Patrol Trooper said he found the suspect vehicle parked unoccupied at a home about three miles away shortly after. The car was taken in as evidence.
