Troopers say a semi-truck rolled over on Interstate 5 south of Mount Vernon after the driver fell asleep at the wheel.

It happened around 3 a.m. at milepost 216, which is just south of Starbird Road. That’s about 13 miles south of the current detours in Mount Vernon for the Skagit River bridge collapse.

A Washington State Patrol spokesman said the FedEx semi was the only vehicle involved and the driver has minor injuries. The driver allegedly fell asleep and traveled off the freeway. When he tried to get back on the road, he lost control and rolled the trailer on its side.

The trailer was partially loaded.

Two lanes were blocked for about two and a half hours before the truck was righted.
