A woman was killed Thursday after a head-on collision on State Route 520 in Seattle. Troopers say alcohol may have been a factor and have arrested the other driver.
The crash between an SUV and a sedan happened at Montlake Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. The Washington State Patrol said the SUV driver, a 25-year-old man, went the wrong way in the eastbound lanes.
Both people had to be extricated from their vehicles. The victim, a 58-year-old woman, was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she died.
The suspect was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault. He had injuries to his lower leg.
The eastbound lanes were closed for more than two hours during the investigation.
Troopers are trying to figure out where the wrong way driver got on SR 520,
"We are hoping someone will come forward with information that could help us out,” said Sgt. John Sager, Washington State Patrol.
They are asking that anyone who may have seen the driver heading the wrong way call them at (425) 401-7740.
