SPOKANE, Wash. -- A boiler exploded in a Spokane high rise building, forcing everyone inside to evacuate.
It happened around 8 a.m. Monday at the Sixth Avenue Medical Building in the 500 block of West 6th.
A heating and ventilation worker was performing maintenance on the boiler when it exploded. He suffered minor burns and his hair was singed. Medics took him a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
No one else was hurt.
The cause is under investigation. There was no significant damage done to the building.
More than 50 people fled the building after the explosion. Staff and patients were bussed to nearby businesses while they waited to reenter.
