PORTLAND -- Police searched Tuesday morning for an infant reported missing from an apartment at East Burnside and 148th and the child was located in the front yard of a home in the 400 block of NE 139th.
The four-month-old was found safe and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The child was last seen at an apartment complex at East Burnside Street and 148th Avenue. A call was made about 2 a.m. to 911 that the child was missing.
Police later went to a home in North Portland as part of the incident.
Portland policeman Kevin Macho held the baby after it was found.
"It's a good day," he said.
He said the child was cold. He could not disclose much more, saying specific details were part of an ongoing investigation that included many detectives and street officers.
What's important, he said, was that the baby was found. It was particularly touching for him being a father, Macho said.
"Under these uniforms, we are husbands, mothers, fathers," he said.
