COLVILLE, Wash. -- Firefighters battled a large structure fire in downtown Colville Saturday night.
Witnesses said flames broke out at Saundra’s Furniture at 279 South Main around 8:00 p.m.
Authorities from Colville Fire and Stevens County have not released details about the fire.
Highway 395 through downtown was reopened Sunday morning after it had been shut down for hours while crews battled the fire.
Witnesses said flames shot 30 to 40 feet in the air, and that multiple crews were on scene battling the fire.
According to Saundra’s website, the furniture store had more than 40,000 square feet of merchandise in stock. The company was having an Anniversary Sale.
Witnesses said it appeared the fire gutted the store.
Saundra’s serviced the areas of Republic, Chewelah, Arden, Deer Park, Loon Lake, Valley, Deep Lake, Northport, Spokane, Colville, Kettle Falls, Addy, WA, Washington, Grand Forks, Trail, BC, British Columbia.
