Heavy rain and wind at times are starting the week for Western Washington.

Expect briefly heavy rain before 7 a.m. before off and on showers through about 3 p.m., according to KING 5 Meteorologist Rich Marriott. It will be breezy at times. Highs will be around 50 degrees.

Occasionally heavy rain will return for the late afternoon and evening with winds.

Standing water greeted drivers both on the freeways and on streets. Some areas of urban flooding were also reported.

Minor flooding is expected on the Skokomish River at Potlatch. That area often floods in heavy rain.

Showers and breezy conditions were expected on the central and southern Washington coast, and a high wind watch has been posted for the south Washington coast for Monday night.

A mix of rain and snow is likely at Snoqualmie pass, with snow falling at the higher passes. About 3 to 8 inches of snowfall is possible. Snow levels Monday afternoon will be 4,000 feet, rising to 5,000 feet in the evening.

A weekend mudslide canceled Sounder north line commuter train service Monday between Everett and Seattle. Buses will be used to shuttle those passengers. The south line trains between Lakewood and Seattle were not affected.
