A Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Wednesday after officers said he lost control of his motorcycle while getting on Interstate 5.
It happened around 8:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes near Smokey Point. The sheriff's office said the motorcycle flipped off of the road.
Trooper Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol said the deputy was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition was not immediately known, but he was conscious and responsive.
All lanes were shut down for the investigation, creating a back-up of several miles, but traffic was able to sneak by on the shoulder.
The sheriff’s office and WSP are investigating.
This was one of several accidents to clog the morning commute Wednesday. A multi-vehicle collision in the I-5 express lanes at Northgate created a 10 mile backup for people driving into Seattle.
