A convicted felon who only had three months left behind bars broke out of the Monroe prison Wednesday night, launching an all-night manhunt.

Brandon Musto, 37, has not been found yet. Authorities believe he escaped from the Monroe Correctional Complex sometime before 9 p.m., when guards took a head count in his minimum security unit.

Officials said they believe Musto climbed a fence to escape.

Prison officials said they have an idea of where he may be headed, but would not say where to prevent tipping him off.

Musto is described as:

   --white male, 5-foot 8-inches tall, 180 pounds
   --dark hair, brown eyes
--tattoos on his right arm & left wrist
--last seen wearing brown khakis, brown jacket, white undershirt

He should be considered dangerous. Anyone who sees him is advised to call 911.

Musto was convicted of vehicular assault in Thurston County in 2011. He began his prison sentence in September 2011 and was scheduled to be released in February 2013. His criminal history also includes a prior escape charge.

Thick fog blanketed the area around the prison Thursday morning, as a search team was deployed to look for him.

The prison unit from which Musto escaped houses about 450 offenders.
