SPOKANE, Wash. -- A driver slammed into a power pole while driving drunk, according to Spokane Police.

This happened around 4 a.m. at 31st and Glenrose.

The woman first told police she was driving recklessly because she was the victim of a recent robbery. After further investigation, police say the woman lied to cover the fact she was driving drunk.

Police arrested the woman for DUI. She did not suffer any injuries, but the woman will be checked out at the hospital before heading to jail.

The collision knocked out the power pole and left a mess on the road. Law enforcement said the roads will remain closed until Avista can clean up the pole.
