WASHINGTON—A bill to up the maximum sentence for people convicted of deadly drunk driving wrecks is headed to the Governor Christine Gregoire’s desk Tuesday.

The bill more than doubles the sentence range for first time vehicular homicide convictions.

A person convicted could face between six and eight years behind bars compared to the current sentence range of two to three years.
