EVERETT, Wash. - A Marysville couple on Wednesday came face-to-face with the woman they claim was paid to steal their dog.
Nancy Howard appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing. She's pleaded not guilty to charges of animal abuse, trespassing and theft.
Ron and Colleen Smith say home surveillance video shows howard taking their siberian husky "Takoda" from their backyard.
The smiths say someone paid howard to steal the dog.
"Regardless of whether my client was involved or not, I’ve been told that the dog was returned in better physical condition than it was before," said Lennard Nahajski, Howard's attorney.
"I have photographs and video of the dog with cuts and gashes on her face," said Ron Smith.
"Takoda" was eventually returned to the Marysville police station and re-united with her owners.
Howard's trial begins next month.
