A Tenino alpaca rescue is taking in 176 starving and neglected alpacas seized from a farm in Falls City, Ore. Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue received the first group of animals on Wednesday.
Cross Creek will care for the animals until they are well enough to be put up for adoption.
Polk County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Isham said the county took control of the animals last week after owners Jocelyn and Robert Silver could not care for them
They each now face two felony counts of animal neglect and 16 Class A misdemeanors of animal neglect.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said dozens of their alpacas died from starvation and the rest were taken in by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University.
