KENT, Wash. – Animal control will not make a decision on adopting out dozens of cats seized from a camper for at least two weeks.
A spokesperson with King County Animal Control says the 73 cats continue to improve, and will undergo more health monitoring throughout the week.
On Friday, they gave Jerry Reynolds a notice asking him to surrender or claim the cats. He has 15 days to respond.
Reynolds had been keeping the cats in a camper on the back of his pick-up.
He was living in the vehicle so he could be close to his girlfriend who is in the hospital. Reynolds said he thought the animals were okay.
Animal control officials will not make a decision about adopting out the cats until they hear from him.
Shelter officials say they always need foster families and may need foster families for the "camper cats" at some point. Potential foster families must attend a training session. There are several sessions coming up:
- Thursday, February 2, 5:30-7pm
- Thursday, February 9, 5:30-7pm
- Thursday, February 16, 2-3:30pm
