GIG HARBOR, Wash. – Deputies and animal control officers had to corral a wallaby that got away from its owner and jumped in front of a deputy’s car Thursday.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said the deputy reported what he thought, at the time, was a kangaroo on 87th Avenue Northwest.
Deputies and animal control caught the female wallaby, named Mia, with a net. They were able to track down the owner a few blocks away and returned Mia to safety.
