A fawn rescued by a Washington State trooper in Bellingham this week is recovering at a local wildlife center.

The trooper found the two-month-old deer after a car hit and killed an adult deer, possibly the mother.

The State Patrol says the fawn ran up to the trooper and wouldn't leave so Trooper Scott Brown put the baby in his car.

The fawn is now getting treatment at the Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington and already has made a friend.

Sarvey Executive Director Suzanne West says the fawn was severely dehydrated but is doing better.
