KELSO, Wash. - A 39-year-old Longview man who stole a dog and tried to ransom it for prescription drugs was sentenced to more than three years in prison.
Johnny Lee Jordan had pleaded guilty to theft and extortion charges and was sentenced Friday in Cowlitz County Superior Court.
The Daily News reports (http://is.gd/q13xtp ) Jordan's girlfriend and a friend also are charged with extortion in the case and are due for trial later this month in Kelso.
Prosecutors say they stole a 2-year-old English bulldog named Jagger last October from the yard at the home of Jennifer Thomas of Woodland. She received a text message demanding her prescription drugs and cash if she wanted her dog back.
Jagger was found dead about three weeks later along railroad tracks in Kelso.
