YELM, Wash. – Hundreds of people lined up Sunday to adopt dogs and to help the children of a couple who died in a homicide-suicide earlier this month.
Pierce County sheriff's investigators said Hector Estrada, 57, shot and killed his live-in girlfriend, Yolanda Patchin, 47, at their Eatonville home April 3 before turning the gun on himself.
The couple operated a commercial dog breeding facility.
The adoption fair was held Sunday to find good homes for more than 100 dogs and puppies.
The money from the adoption fair will benefit the couple's two young children.
Donations to help the Estrada children can be made at any local Key Bank.
