LYNNWOOD, Wash. – Nearly two dozen new ducklings are calling Alderwood Middle School home.
One set of 11 ducklings hatched a week ago, and another set of 12 appeared Tuesday morning. They live in the school's courtyard with the two mother ducks - and occasionally a father duck.
One family of ducks has spent time at the school for several years, then a second mother duck showed up this year.
Students help take care of them by putting out food and cleaning their pools.
"They're just like so soft and fuzzy, and if we could hold them I would definitely hold them. And they're just, it's fun to take care of them because I love animals,” said 8th grader Amanda Holthusen.
The students piled up stepping stones they made in art class so the ducklings can climb into the pools.
