BOISE -- The Idaho Humane Society is expected to receive over 50 small dogs to arrive from other states over the weekend so they can be adopted in the Treasure Valley.
The effort is possible because of two organizations that use volunteer pilots to fly the dogs from areas where they struggle to find homes from other shelters.
On Friday, 14 dogs arrived from Sacramento, while on Saturday 25 dogs arrived from Oakland. In addition to the dogs from California, the Humane Society will also be getting 15 dogs from a Phoenix-area shelter.
The dogs range from chihuahua mixes, to miniature pinschers and pomeranian mixes.
They will be ready for homes soon.
