Talking to kids about sex can be tricky. Talking to boys about sex can be even trickier. Amy Lang, a sexual health educator and author of "Birds + Bees + Kids," says parents need to approach the sex talk differently with boys than with girls.

For instance, she says, have "the talk" with your son while you're doing something else, like playing catch together or washing dishes. And she says boys need to hear from both parents. So, moms don't try to hand off the duty to dear old dad!

Lang stopped by the NWCN studio to share some ideas on starting the birds and the bees conversation with boys. Be sure to watch this interview before you have the talk with your little guy.

You can watch Northwest Families Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. on Northwest Cable News.
