She's a poet, playwright, mother, grandmother and an inspiration to many.  Maya Angelou is coming to the Northwest!  She’ll perform at The Paramount Theatre Monday in the Unique Lives women's lecture series that's touring the country.  I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Angelou over the phone about her visit, her recent Medal of Freedom Award from President Obama and her unique ability to find life lessons in even the most mundane encounters.  Watch the video segment above to hear some pearls of wisdom from the soon to be 83 year old icon.

What are some of your favorite Maya Angelou poems, books and performances?  Scroll down to leave your comment.
