A breast-feeding battle has landed a new mom in trouble with the law. Laura Trickle is facing charges for refusing jury duty because she is nursing her seven month old son, Axle. The Missouri mom says Axle won’t take a bottle and he’s not allowed to sit in court with her, so she has no choice but to decline to serve. A judge didn’t see it that way and charged Laura with contempt of court. She’s facing a $500 fine. That’s a lot of diapers.
Twelve states, including Oregon and Idaho, exempt breast-feeding mothers from jury duty. Unfortunately for Laura, Missouri’s not on that list.
