When kids call the shots anything can happen. And that’s what supporters of an innovative educational technique called “unschooling” are counting on. It allows children to decide what and when they want to learn. It’s based on John Holt's 1964 book "How Children Fail." Holt believed children should follow their innate curiosity and passions rather than being forced to learn hordes of information they will never use. But some parenting experts argue children engaged in this type of learning may not gain the range of skills they need to succeed. You be the judge. Watch this week’s Northwest Families.
