Homemade Baby Food

Have you ever tried to make your own baby food, only to get the YUCK face from your little one? Or worse they swat the bowl onto the floor. Don't give up! We hit the web to find some nutritious recipes that taste good too. Parents.com has a great section with recipe ideas, an age-by-age guide to starting solid foods and more. And Wholesomebabyfood.com has some cost-saving ideas to get you started. And if you have a recipe your kids love that you'd like to share with our readers, please log in to share it in the comments section below. Our producer, Blaine, found a great recipe for green pea pancakes that you'll see on there.

Get Organized

Are you burning the candle at both ends trying to get things done and keep your house in order?  Here are some tips, courtesy of parents.com that will make your daily routine run smoother.

Park It - No more searching around the house for your keys when it's time to go! Find a permanent spot for keys, glasses, and remote controls and park them there. I use a piece of art that one of my kids made and put it on an end table but any dish or basket will do.

Assign It  - Designate a shelf in the entryway for each family member. Give each of your kids a see-through storage box for their school supplies or toys. I assign a place for shoes too. It drives me bananas to hear "I can't find my shoes" when it's time to head out the door.  A central shoe place will help you avoid those delays.

Time It - Use a stopwatch, you may have one on your cell phone, to find out exactly how long it takes for each child to get dressed in the morning and walk out the door. That will help you decide when to wake up your kids.  Some are slower than others and may need to get up earlier.  My kids love to play beat the clock so it comes in handy to really get them moving.

Just Do It  - Finally, if something takes less than a minute do it right away. It'll save you more time in the end.

If you have some time-saving tips you'd like to share, please log in below to leave them in the comment section.  We can all benefit from sharing ideas.

March For Babies

Just five easy steps can save the life of a baby. The March of Dimes kicks off its "March for Babies" fundraising event this month. It's easy to take part.

Step 1: Sign up at marchforbabies.org and join a team or start your own.

Step 2: Set a goal for how much money you want to raise.

Step 3: Invite family, friends and neighbors to march with you.

Step 4: Ask for donations through email.

Step 5: Lace up your shoes. With every step you take, you'll raise money for research to help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
