Many parents are starting to think about whether their young children will head to preschool in September. A big part of that decision is just how expensive it is to enroll.
There’s a big push to get more funding for early education. Last year, President Obama called for Universal Preschool during his State of the Union Address, high quality and affordable education for three and four year olds. Since then, Washington Senator Patty Murray and other members of Congress have sponsored legislation to provide more preschool funding for children from low and moderate income families. Right now the Seattle City Council is considering a plan to provide free and sliding scale preschool for low income and middle class kids. They could take action on that plan in April.
