Seattle politics is going to the dogs - literally.

On Thursday, the official candidates for Seattle's dog mayor made their public debut.

Sponsored by DOGTV, a television network for dogs, the announcement is part of the national "My Dog as Mayor!" campaign to elect 100 dog mayors in 100 cities across the U.S.

The three “canine-didates” running for Seattle's top dog were introduced to the public. After facing “ruff” competition, the three were selected based on their political attributes - namely adorableness and ambition.

Bear, a Pomeranian
"Don't be fooled by the ferocious name because Bear is nothing but love. A loyal family member, farm dog and therapy animal, Bear is small but mighty, noble but kind. He is a leader that even non-dog lovers will respect."

Cooper, a golden retriever
"Cooper began life as the underdog - a "clearance" puppy with few prospects. However, he proved he was so much more than a clearance dog when his dad developed a seizure disorder that Cooper can actually detect. He loves and supports his dad in his time of need, and as mayor, he will do the same for his constituents."

Co Co, a tea cup poodle
This poodle with pizazz is leaving the art world to enter the Seattle political scene. Taking a break from painting, directing short films and mind reading, Co Co hopes to raise awareness of the benefits of art in schools.

People can cast their vote for Seattle dog mayor on DOGTV’s Facebook page. Voting ends Thursday, March 20, and the new dog mayor will be announced on March 25.
