It is opening day for Major League Baseball.
The Mariners began the season against the Oakland A's in Tokyo, but fans in Seattle still arrived at the ballpark to cheer on the team.
Starting at a little after 2 a.m. Wednesday season ticket holders started to trickle into the Terrace Club at Safeco Field to be there as the first pitch was thrown just after three o'clock.
Nearly 200 fans were in attendance for the very different and unique way to open the season.
"It's one of the best I've ever been to. It's actually really cool! I mean, how many times in my lifetime am I going to be here at 3 o'clock in the morning?" said Jeremy Mcguire, Mariners season ticket holder.
From burgers to sushi and coffee to juice boxes, fans kicked back and relaxed as they watched the Mariners beat Oakland.
"It's the American pastime, this is fun. This is what it's all about and it's why we're here," said Patrick Strafer, season ticket holder.
Ichiro Suzuki was 4-for-5 and Dustin Ackley hit a homerun to help the team to a 3-1 win over Oakland.
The home opener goes at Safeco Field on Friday, April 13.
