The PlayStation Vita is a great portable system, but in my review of the system I mentioned the way the rear touch screen is located it can be easily tapped by accident.  In some games this leads to inadvertently activating things you don't want to.  So what's the solution?  Get a grip, the Nyko Power Grip for PS Vita to be exact.

The Power Grip for PS Vita is very helpful in alleviating the accidental touching of the rear by giving you a place to rest your fingers.  Its handles give you the feeling of holding a regular console controller.  It doesn't block the rear touch screen either with a large opening allowing you access.  The Power Grip for PS Vita has a soft-touch texture so that it feels secure in your hands.

Nyko thoughtfully built a rechargeable battery into the Power Grip for PS Vita.  This really extended the playing time of the Vita.  The enclosed instructions pointed out that it would take "3-5 complete charges before the battery achieves its full charge capacity."  After I charged mine a few times I got nearly double the time with it.  When the Vita is installed in the Power Grip for PS Vita you can recharge them both at the same time with the Vita's own AC adapter/charger.

There is one drawback to the Power Grip for PS Vita.  While Nyko claims that the design allows "full access to all actions buttons, switches, ports, and the rear touch panel" it's not completely true.  It blocks the game card port.  This may or may not be a problem.  If you buy all your games through PSN and download them to the PS Vita, then it is no problem because the Memory Stick port is accessible.  If you buy the physical game cards then you have to remove the Power Grip for PS Vita to swap out games, a minor inconvenience, but achievable.  The Power Grip for PS Vita also blocks the SIMM card port, but once that is installed you never have to remove it, so it's not a real problem.

Overall I really like the Power Grip for PS Vita.  I had a similar grip for the PSP.  In both situations it makes holding the system feel more natural and secure, especially for bigger hands.  The rechargeable battery is an extremely nice bonus, giving you more time to play or watch videos.  I recommend the Nyko Power Grip for PS Vita
