This year marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.  And whether you choose to do something big or small, everyone can participate. Why not make it a yearlong commitment?  It can be something as simple as turning off the water while you brush your teeth instead of leaving it running.  My 10 year old daughter has gotten pretty good at policing our water usage. Or you could take a walk with your kids and pick up trash along the way.

Corey Colwell-Lipson, the co-founder of Celebrate Green! came to our studio to share some other ways we can help our planet.  She even made a bird house out of a milk carton.  Watch the segment to find out how.

You can watch Northwest Families Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. on Northwest Cable News.
