Several recent kidnapping attempts have parents in our region unnerved.  Now that school is out for the summer it’s a good time to help your kids brush up on their safety skills.  What should they do if a stranger tries to grab them?  You might be surprised at how they answer that question.  My son once said, I’ll give them a big karate chop!  Kids need to know they’re no physical match for an adult so their best weapon is their voice, says Kim Estes of Savvy Parents Safe Kids.  Tell them to scream and yell as loud as they can!

Estes, a child safety expert, offers workshops on preparing your children to explore their world without you. Click the video box above to see more of her safety tips.
