An American will die every 30 seconds from heart disease as it is the number one killer in the country.

The Third Annual Cupcake Camp Seattle is raising money to support research in Western Washington.

Several of the best cupcake shops in the Pacific Northwest come together with thousands of their best creations for the public to taste.

"We're having a huge cupcake festival, we always have between 800 to 1,000 people show up," said Carrie Middlemiss, founder of Cupcake Camp Seattle.

The proceeds go to help eradicate heart disease.

"We started it three years ago to raise funds for the Hope Heart Institute," said Middlemiss.

The Hope Heart Institute serves this region through cardiovascular research and education.

Cupcake Camp Seattle goes Sunday, April 15 from 11:30 am until 2:00 pm at the Canal in Ballard. For more information or to purchase tickets go to www.cupcakecampseattle.com.
