Contest Held by U.S. Mint Open to the Public

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation is offering an additional perk to the winning designer of the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coins.

Each year, the United States Mint holds its annual competition for the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin design. The winner will not only have their unique design and initials featured on the coins but they now also have the opportunity, if they so choose, to hand-sign the NGC labels presented with the coins. If the winner opts in to hand-sign the labels, over 1 million to be exact, the NGC will also double the prize money presented by the U.S. Mint. Bringing the total monetary winnings to $20,000 USD.

The contest held by U.S. Mint has been open to the public since August 1, 2016. They are asking all interested American citizens and permanent residents, 18 years of age and older, to participate in this one of a kind annual celebration which increases awareness for survivors and victims of breast cancer.

The Mint has promised to release 50,000 $5 pink gold coins, 400,000 silver dollars, and 750,000 clad half-dollars. Qualities are promised in proof as well as uncirculated.

Phase One of the competition is set to close on October 17, 2016, with the unveiling of the winning design to be held in June 2017.
