Rain destroys emergency kibble at Portland pet food bank

PORTLAND - Tuesday's heavy rainfall and a leaky roof destroyed supplies of emergency cat food housed at The Pongo Fund, Oregon s Emergency Pet Food Bank.

The kibble, valued at thousands of dollars, had just been purchased and delivered a few weeks ago to restock emergency food supplies.

Operators said that because The Pongo Fund buys its food at huge discounts, cash donations were needed most.

The Pongo Fund is a volunteer-staffed, 501(c)3 non-profit public charity
