Feed your hummingbird friends

11:23 AM PDT on Thursday, August 16, 2007

Hummingbirds require lots of energy. They must ingest about half their weight in food every day. Flowering plants provide nectar, spiders and insects supply protein.

To make feeder nectar simply use 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, dissolving the sugar well. Coloring is not necessary and could be detrimental to the birds. Caution: Never use honey.
