Pike Brewery has been called a "shrine to beer", and owner Charles Finkel built his shrine for one simple reason: "Beer is convivial, it's a good way for people to get together with friends, with family".
The crew at Pike recently introduced a beer unlike any other, and while Washington may be known as a microbrew mecca, Pike Locale Skagit Valley Alba is the first beer ever to be made completely from local ingredients. The beer’s barley grows in the Skagit Valley, a place usually associate with tulips.
"The fact of the matter is that all Washington state beers, prior to this introduction, have been sourcing their main raw material in other places. Saskatechewan, Alberta, Kansas, everyplace but Washington State."
It quickly became a best-seller.
'We're very proud…we made history, we're making history, by having this beer."
