Don Sundquist - my dad & hero

Don Sundquist's dad bought a ticket for the Titanic to come to Vancouver BC for a job when he was 20 years old but somehow ended up missing the boat. He made it to the US later and ended up raising his family in Hoquiam, WA until he was killed by a drunk driver when Don was 7 years old. Don was the middle aged son. After graduating from high school Don was drafted. He served in the Korean War in the Army as a Chaplain's assistant. After the war, he completed his studies and he was a choral director at Mount Tahoma High School most of his career. He also taught private voice lessons, Orpheous Men's choir, choir director at First Presbityerian Church downtown and at First Covenant Church, sang solos in many weddings, funerals, football games and most recently for the new WW2 memorial site at the Narrows Bridge park. He is 80 now and lives in Tacoma with his wife Kathryn of 57 years. Don and Kathryn had their house built on Narrows Drive when it was a dirt road. They still reside there today.
