If schools are incurring extra expense for keeping teachers late to watch them, seems only fair for parents to pick up the tab.

By all means the parents should pay. The schools and teachers are not there to "babysit". They are there to teach. If parents are "continually" late, then they should be held accountable. Accountability is a lesson that could be passed on.

We can't rely on some parents to be prompt on their own , so some consequenses need to be created. Hit'em in the pocketbook , it's a time proven strategy !

Yes, because having worked in the schools, I know how tight time and budgets are. Someone has to watch these students, therefore, someone has to be paid. Only fair those parents should pay.

NO. Usually the school teachers are at school afterwards for about 30 mins after school is out or an hour atmost, They also claim there not responsible for the kids once theyre released from school for the day. When i was in school the school when let out for the day was resposible for the student from the time they left premises til they got home where they live. So you know if your teachers and you care about your students take action and make sure they have rides instead of just worrying about urselves.

The question is not if we should charge the family or if we should not charge the family... but how do we make the chooice who and how we charge the kids we teachs mother or father for being late. What if there was a car issues or afamily reason why the mother was late... ONE TIME So you would charge this mother. THAT is messed up. I can understand if the mother or father is late every day. Besides charging the family why not set up a meeting to understand why so many lateness and the resposible of picking up a child on time. Seeing if the child whose family is late can work out a pick up plan with another family member, friend or even another class mates mother or father.... AS a play date. However, if this was an every day issue over weeks and meetings were not helping, this is were setting up a Day care fee for the family who can not get to school on time, this fee would cover... an snack, worker time, ect.. help the student with school work.
