KING 5’s “Up Front” Offered As Platform for Alaskan Way Viaduct Debate

SEATTLE, WASH.  – KING 5 News is offering “Up Front” as a venue for Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and City Council President Richard Conlin to debate their positions on Seattle’s Alaskan Way Viaduct project.
The invitation is a response to the public challenge issued by McGinn to Conlin, to discuss the viaduct’s cost over-runs and whether Seattle area property owners will ultimately pick up the tab.
“Up Front” is KING 5’s weekly half-hour public affairs program hosted by veteran KING 5 anchor / reporter Allen Schauffler. KING 5 management hopes the mayor and council president will accept this open invitation to bring a robust conversation to viewers throughout Western Washington. If accepted, “Up Front” will focus an entire show to an Alaskan Way Viaduct discussion between McGinn and Conlin.
“Up Front” airs on KING 5 three times on Sunday’s: 9:30 AM, 4:30 PM and 11:35 PM - right before KING 5 News at 5:00 PM and right after KING 5 News at 11:00 PM.  KING 5’s sister station KONG 6/16 airs “Up Front” Sunday’s at 11:00 AM.  Northwest Cable News (Comcast cable channel 2) replays the program Sunday’s at 8:00 PM.
