Seattle, WA – KING 5 was awarded the Northwest Regional Emmy for overall station excellence at the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) on Saturday evening, June 5th.   The top honor was one of 17 Emmys awarded KING 5, the most awards given any Northwest station.

According to the NATAS judging standards, the station excellence category “…reflects the quality and breadth of a station’s operations substance rather than style, the station’s performance in sustaining excellence throughout the eligibility year.”

Ray Heacox, president and general manager of KING 5 Television, says, “The awards handed out to a variety of KING 5 producers, reporters, photographers and editors last Saturday night reflect our station’s value in providing the most comprehensive local coverage available in our market.”

KING 5 News won across a range of categories including investigative, general assignment, feature, environmental, military, sports and informational reporting.  KING 5 News also won for best newscast (KING 5 News at 11) and for news photography.
