BONNEY LAKE, Wash. - A 15-year-old Bonney Lake girl is in police custody, accused of repeatedly stabbing a 13-year-old girl in the chest.
With her mother in the audience, the girl appeared before a juvenile court judge on Monday afternoon and found out she won't be released until at least Wednesday, when she's expected to be charged with assault.
Police say Saturday night she repeatedly stabbed a 13-year-old girl in front of the victim's Bonney Lake home.
"She's a wonderful little girl, I loved babysitting her, she was the first girl I ever babysat," said Natosha Lucas.
Lucas was across the street and heard the fight and aftermath.
"The cops are here, like three-four ambulances, five cops, sheriffs running around and the K-9 dog is running around looking for the girl I guess," she said.
After the 15-year-old was arrested, police learned the two girls had been fighting over a boy.
The stabbing suspect is a freshman at Bonney Lake high school. She was on the track and field team. Her family had no comment about the fight.
"I know girls get in fights, but I never thought they'd bring a weapon into it," said Lucas.
The mother of the 13-year-old is afraid if the 15-year-old is released she might try to kill her daughter.
"She came to my house with a knife, she waited for my daughter and attacked her," said the 13-year-old's mother.
The victim's mother said her daughter was released from the hospital. While the girl is expected to recover from the stab wounds, she may have permanent scars.
"She got stabbed in the face," said the victim's mother.
Some parents of students at Bonney Lake High School kept their children home Monday after what happened Saturday.
