EAGLE, Idaho - The Eagle City Councilput off a vote on an ordinance that would ban smoking in all businesses that deal directly with the public.
One major question at the council meeting last night was whether there was really a need.
"Is the current Idaho statute enough to protect people in our community, or do we want go beyond that and include these extra places like bars?" asked Eagle City Councilman Michael Huffaker.
The city council delayed the vote so they can take a closer look at the economic impact the ordinance will have on businesses and the penalty for offenders.
They also want to research what other cities have done and how it's turned out.
Eagle Mayor Phil Bandy says the smoking-ban ordinance will be back on the agenda for the first or second meeting in May.
